Pilbara contrasts: red rock, bright flowers and quiet water

A tree reflected in still water.

A few scenes from the Pilbara, where the changes between one patch of country and the next kept catching our attention.

There is a mangrove tree standing in still water, a brilliant red Sturt's desert pea close to the ground, then a hillside of broken red rock. Farther on, low green hummocks soften the outlines of the rolling country.

The final photo brings us to the water at Python Pool in Millstream Chichester National Park, beneath its steep rock walls. This was a great place to sit down and read a book for a bit. The echoes were incredible and picked up every single noise and chirp.
