The trip begins

We've started on our trip around Australia!
There was a mad dash leaving Sydney. Packing boxes (a misspent youth playing Tetris finding redemption), movers arriving to take everything that can't travel with us, cleaning the house (now without our vacuum cleaner we just sent away), saying our goodbyes to our great neighbours and finally hitting the road in search of adventure, but mostly relaxation and recovery after that final push.
That was a bit over a week ago.
This morning I find myself in a free campsite in a NSW State Forest, with a well establish coffee routine, lots of amateur drone footage I haven't even tried to process yet, and a calmness as the Bellbirds do their morning thing (sounds to me like frequent sonar-like pings).
This week we've visited glow worms, watched Dachshunds high jump at the Kangaroo Valley Show, developed an appreciation for taking care of your back at the Rodeo, paddled and walked a range of beaches and pools (my favourite being Handkerchief Beach as the tide went out, excellent find Shan), visited Australia Rock (I feel someone went around optimistically naming quite a few rocks along this section of coastline, Australia Rock at least had seals nearby). Yesterday we were in Eden and learnt about the whaling history of the town and the Killer Whales that worked with the people to herd whales to capture, since well before European settlement (and the only place this symbiosis seems to have taken place). To provide a balanced view of things, it hasn't always been fun and success, we've had to institute an ask-first policy in regards to devonshire tea - 'how do you serve your cream?' - following a disappointing show at a dairy.
By the way, we seem to be doing better at posting to Instagram. I'm sure we'll work things out in the fullness of time.
