Mount Trio before the clouds rolled in

We were up early for Mount Trio, hoping to get onto the ridge before the clouds closed in. The walk gave us plenty to look at on the way: king balgas, banksias, gums and bottlebrush, with flowers still adding colour among the green.
Higher up, the wind became much more insistent. From the ridge we could see across the Stirling Range, with Bluff Knoll backlit by sunlight coming through the cloud in the distance. The changing sky gave the mountains a different outline every time we looked up.
The king balgas were a particular feature, their skirts of fine leaves standing out against the surrounding shrubs. Between the plants close to the track and the views from the top, there was plenty of reason to pause.
An early start put to very good use.
