El Questro: worth it

We did some research and thinking before booking El Questro. It was our most expensive caravan-park stay of the trip so far, so we wanted to make the most of being there.
Two nights later, with our waking hours filled by hiking, gorge swims, hot springs and four-wheel-drive tracks, we felt it had been time and money well spent.
The variety was a large part of the appeal. A shaded pool beneath palms felt completely different from a climb through a rocky gorge, and the lookouts opened out into huge stretches of country. Driving between them had its own moments, with the vehicle taking on some memorable angles.
We were also lucky enough to see a brolga close up. They are substantial birds, especially when the comparison is no longer a distant shape across a wetland.
The photos move between water, palms, rock walls and the last light over the hills. It was a very good way to finish our Gibb River Road travels.
