Richardson Shack, with emus for company

We found a lovely spot to ourselves at Richardson Shack in Lincoln National Park. There was water to look out over, bush around the campsite and very little reason to hurry anywhere.
The local emus introduced themselves by sound first. Just as we sat down for dinner, a low, growling noise had us looking around to work out what was nearby. The explanation was a pair of emus, rather than anything we had been picturing in the moment.
They appeared again during my morning coffee. Quite a different impression in daylight: two long-necked neighbours going about their business.
